Compress Image

Make photos lighter for email, a website or an online form that limits the file size. Pick a quality, or enter the maximum size in KB and each image gets the best quality that fits. Add one image or a whole batch; your images never leave your device.

How to use Compress Image

  1. Select one or more images (JPG, PNG, WebP and other formats your browser can open).
  2. Choose a quality, or a maximum file size in KB.
  3. Click "Compress images". One image downloads directly; several images download as a ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a photo under 100 KB (or 50 KB, 20 KB)?

Choose "Target file size (KB)" and enter the size. The tool tries several qualities and keeps the best one that fits. If even a low quality is too big, it also reduces the width and height, only as much as needed.

What happens to PNG images?

PNG is lossless, so it has no quality to lower. In automatic mode PNG images are saved as JPG, which is much smaller for photos and screenshots; transparent areas become white. Choose WebP to keep transparency.

Will my image look worse?

At 70% quality most photos look the same as the original on screen. If an image cannot be made smaller, you get a message instead of a bigger file.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The images are compressed in your browser, so they never leave your device.
