Compress Image to 50 KB

Exam, scholarship and government portals often ask for a passport photo under 50 KB. Add your photos and each one is saved with the best quality that fits under the limit, even straight from a phone camera. Your photos never leave your device.

How to use Compress Image to 50 KB

  1. Select one or more photos (JPG, PNG, WebP and other formats your browser can open).
  2. Keep 50 KB as the maximum size, or enter the limit your form asks for.
  3. Click "Compress images". One photo downloads directly; several photos download as a ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

My form says 50 KB. Will the file be accepted?

The file is at most 50,000 bytes, because a KB is counted as 1,000 bytes. That is below the limit whether the form counts 1,000 or 1,024 bytes per KB. If the form also asks for a minimum size, such as 20 KB, check the size shown after compressing.

Will my photo still look sharp?

The tool keeps the highest quality that fits. A phone photo of several megabytes may also be made smaller in pixels, which is usually fine for a passport-style photo shown on a form.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The photos are compressed in your browser, so they never leave your device.
