Image to Text Converter (OCR)
Turn a photo of a page, a screenshot or a scanned document into text you can copy, edit and search. Text recognition (OCR) runs in your browser: lines are joined into paragraphs, and two-column pages are read column by column. Your images never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions
Which languages can it read?
The 16 languages of this site, including Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. English is always recognized as well, so English words in a text in another language are read too.
How do I get the best result?
Use a sharp, well-lit photo taken straight on, with the text filling most of the picture. Small screenshots are enlarged automatically. Handwriting is usually not recognized.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Select them all: you get one text file with the text of each image under its file name.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The text is recognized in your browser. Only the recognition model for the language is downloaded, once; your images never leave your device.
